Smokingpipes.com has received their fist shipment over the weekend and are already almost completely sold out. If you know of some other places that is selling Dunhill leave a comment with a link and help some others out. Thanks!

I am pleased to say that I just ordered a brand new Peterson Kapet Volcano/Rhodesian from smokingpipes.com. This pipe caught my eye immediately and I knew I had to have it. Having always been a huge fan of Peterson pipes, specifically their affordability and smoke-ability, this was an easy purchase. This B32 shape is as a very non-traditional look which is very unexpected for a Peterson, it almost has a danish flair to it, especially that top of the bowl.

I love Eric N. Squires description of the lovely pipe: “The stem, shank, and underside of the bowl are classic Peterson shaping, and classic shaping for this pipe’s defined type as well, but once one rises above the single bead, that’s all over and done with. Here, instead, we have a decidedly volcano-like form thrusting upward, complete with cocked rim which one would half-swear was sneering at our pedestrian expectations.”

I cannot wait to break in this pipe! I’ll be sure to update everyone once I get the pipe in hand. And to sweeten the deal smokingpipes.com is offering a free tin of Peterson tobacco with any pipe purchase. Pipe and tobacco for under $65.00, a great deal I must say. (no affiliation with smokingpipes.com, just a happy customer)

I’d like to apologize to my readers for the complete lack of updates as of late. My family and I recently moved to Houston, TX, started a new job, and just had our second child 18 months apart from the first. So it feels as if I have not slept in months. On the pipe making front I finally get the work shop set up and began to carve some briar just 2 nights ago, it felt great. I hope to be able to finish some backordered pipes by Christmas time, thanks for your patients for those of you who have been waiting. I hope to get back to a regular stream of helpful updates for my pipe smoking friends. Thanks for reading and sticking with me. Happy pipe smoking friends.

Here are a few pics of the initial set up of the pipe shop and a new nosewarmer I am working on. Trying a new rustication on it.

As I am writing this I am enjoying some Double Eagle tobacco in an Andrew Marks bent egg overlooking the Texas hill country in beautiful Austin Texas.  Double Eagle is blended by Jack Peterson the master blender over at Sterling Tobacco Co and a master he is.  Double eagle is decribed as a light aromatic, that is delightfully mild and cool.  The tobacco an air cured, cube cut burley that is very mild and is reminiscent of old Prince Albert, or Edgeworth.  Opening the bag you are hit with a wonderful aroma of vanilla, and figs.  The tobacco moisture was just perfect out of the bag.  I was amazed at how cool this tobacco smokes, the vanilla flavor is great but not overpowering and the nutty burley flavor develops about halfway through the smoke.  This tobacco is simply wonderful, I am very surprised at the quality of tobacco, and the consistancy of the smoke.  I’d like to commend Jack and the team over at Sterling Tobacco for such a wonderful smoke.  Highly recommended.  I should also let you know that Sterling is offering a free sample of one of their blends and would suggest that you head over now and pick up a free sample of Double Eagle while the offer is still on the table.  Here is how to get your hands on some:

Last week at the 2010 Chicago Pipe show Cornell & Diehl released three new tobacco blends. All of them sound delicious and I look forward to trying them all out! So in celebration of their three wonderful new blends I will be holding another giveaway, this time it’s Cornell & Diehl New Buffalo Soldier.

Tin decryption: Cornell & Diehl pays tribute to America’s African American soldiers with Buffalo Soldier, the first in a new series. We’ve applied just the right proportion of Latakia and Perique to a base of naturally sweet Virginias to create a well rounded, all day blend.

In order to participate in this giveaway simply place a comment below and on June 12th I’ll announce the winner. Thanks to everyone for making pipe blogging so fun and for visiting pipe-smokers.net
