Boswell’s Berry Cobbler Review

I received about 6 tobacco’s from Boswell’s after several raving reviews from some friends I’ve met through this blog. The aroma after opening the bag of tobacco was distinctly, and unsurprisingly berryish (if that’s a word). After inspecting this tobacco’s and all of the Boswell’s I received it is clear that this is a top quality tobacco, with a great flavor that unlike most aromatics actually tastes like it smells. It’s very mild, and would would be a great all day smoke. Room note is superb, perhaps the best I’ve ever experienced. It lights great, and burns evenly, but it does leave behind the wet gunk in the bottom of the bowl. For a heavily cased aromatic it’s not too bad on the tongue. Overall I really enjoy berry cobbler, perhaps edging out Peterson’s Sunset Breeze for my favorite aromatic. I am most defiantly looking forward to trying the rest of these Boswell blends.

Sean, Boswell’s makes the best aromatics on the market. Did you
get any PA Dutch Treat, No Bite Delite, or Raspberries and Cream? They
are also top notch. Thanks for the nice review.
Great! I will need to pick some of that up, maybe order it when I visit the States in the summer.
I think I went backwards in pipe smoking. I never liked aromatics, but am now curious to try them out!

Boswells has some GREAT aromatics, you won’t be let down.
Don’t discount my pals at LJ Peretti in Boston (have I mentioned them before? Probably…). Very olde-skool aromatics (aromantics?), focusing on “natural” casings (deer tongue, anyone? And I *swear* they use Lemon Grass…) or aromas of your gran’pa.
I am a young (I find that at 26 I am young to be pursuing pipe smoking) pipe smoking enthusiast who is still learning to understand the finer points of the craft. Currently I am the executive officer of an Army Infantry company stationed in Iraq. After noticing that my Commander and First Sergeant were developing an interest in pipe smoking, I decided to order some blends from Boswell’s so they could experience something more enjoyable than Captain Black. I ordered Mild English, Cherry Smash, Bear blend, Hunter’s Choice and Northwoods. So far, we are all dazzled by Boswell’s blends! As you mentioned with Berry Cobler, the Cherry Smash actually TASTES of cherries, which I’ve never experienced before. It’s very subtle, however, and amazingly smooth. Prior to the Cherry Smash we smoked a great deal of the Mild English, which was very good as well. As you can imagine, the transition from a purely smoking-oriented tobacco to an aromatic cherry blend was really something. The difference in character was astounding. We’re slowly rotating through them all, so when we have finished the Cherry Smash we’re moving on to the Bear Blend. I must admit, however, that I look forward to Hunter’s Choice more than the rest. You’ve got to smell the stuff to believe it… it’s going to make for a great smoke in my churchwarden!
I recently purchased berry cobbler, christmas cookie and raspberries&cream from Boswells.
I was very impressed with B.C. and C.C., but raspberries&cream was dissapointing. No raspberry flavour or room note at all.
I actually think that there may have been a mix up in the order, since all the review were excellent and the other 2 blends were outstanding…
