How can we help Haiti?
Pipe smokers or anyone for that matter, Haiti desperately needs our help! Please join me in praying for and supporting this nation which has been left in ruin. A few stats about Haiti: 3 Million people live in Port Au Prince which was hit, The earthquake’s power matched that of several nuclear bombs, said Roger Searle, a professor of geophysics in the Earth Sciences Department at Durham University in England. Most buildings made of sand, dirt, and clay. Estimated over 100,000 killed. Thousands homeless, sleeping outside. In desperate need of food, Haiti’s food supply is import only and whatever infrastructure existed is now gone.
How can we help:
From my friends blog: http://dreamingbigdreams.net
Here are people we suggest you support:
REAL HOPE FOR HAITI: These are fabulous people who run a rescue center and clinic, also our son lives here. Last I heard two trucks had pulled up full of injured people needing help. I have heard that their biggest need is money to buy food. Already food has doubled and this is going to cause a big problem all over Haiti. RHFH has a paypal button that you can donate to (click HERE & scroll to bottom of page), or you can mail a check to: RHFH – PO BOX 23 – Elwood, IN 46036. Please follow Licia & Lori’s blogs to stay up to date.
COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL: We trust and love Compassion and feel that they will also use your money to the best of their ability if you chose to give to the disaster relief fund. We still have no idea whether our sponsored child, Wonsli, is okay. I think of him and his family and what they must be going through right now. I’m praying for the Compassion projects as they begin to help families rebuild their lives. For a $35 donation you can help a family receive every sort of disaster relief they might need in this first critical week. If you have a Compassion child in any country, and especially Haiti, I ask that you consider this.
We have other friends in PAP that work with Heartline and World Wide Village. When I hear their needs and how they are handling it all I’ll let you know. I’ve also read that World Vision is on the ground helping as well as the Red Cross. Also Makarios in the Dominican is sending a team over w/ medical supplies. They could use your funds to help purchase supplies and get them across the border. Please pick an organization that you love and support and donate. They will ALL need our help in this next couple of days, weeks, months & years.
My brother-in-law created a design for a t-shirt last night and we’re in the works of getting it online for you to order. I’ll have a picture of it this afternoon and can direct you to where to go to order them. If you would like to order a large amount to sell at your church, shop, restaurant, school etc, email me and I’ll hook you up with how to do that. All the proceeds from this shirt will go to organizations in Haiti.
Thanks for reading, I know that this is not my typical blog post but this situation is close to my heart and many of my friends hearts. Consider praying and supporting those that are on the ground level.
Thanks Guys!

Please look out for the Order of Malta – Malteser International, which is always one of the first to arrive. They are not media-worthy so are little known but have already done excellent work in Burma, for one instance of many.
Best wishes to all pipe smokers.
